I offer both private and group lessons. The private lessons are held in my studio. They are tailored to the individuals intrest and skill. The cost is $25.00 an hour. The time will be scheduled where it is convienent for both. I teach group workshops as well. I have taught homeschool groups, art clubs, and college level seminars, and am comfortable with all age groups. Topics,demonstrations, and activites will be suited to fit the groups level and interest. Prices are variable depending upon subject, preperation, and travel. Alla Prima Painting

Wednesday 4/14 – 6/9 | 9 AM – 12 PM | 9 SESSIONS

Alla prima, or direct painting, is an expressive method of painting from life. In this class, students learn to paint in full color without employing an elaborate underdrawing or underpainting. Students are taught toidentify value patterns, mix vibrant color with a limited palette, and usebrush strokes that create form and add vitality to the surface. The firstsix weeks, the class will work from still life objects. Each set-up willreflect specific challenges to explore. In the last half of the semester,lessons learned from the still life will be applied to portrait paintingusing a live model. Famous painters who have worked in this allaprima style are as diverse as Richard Schmid, Charles Hawthorne,Claude Monet, and John Singer Sargent.

Portrait Painting

Add life to your portraits! Learn to paint any skin tone to look realistic and vibrant. Working from live models, students learn to identify and mix skin tones in light and shadow incorporating them with the backgroundfor a winning composition. Students may work in oil, pastel, or acrylic.

Landscape Painting:

Intermediate - Advanced

Follow in the footsteps of the Impressionists and learn to paint plein air. In good weather, students will paint on

location, learning to capture momentary eff ects of light and atmosphere. Each class, students meet at the BBAC and weather permitting, drive to a nearby location to paint on site. During inclement weather, students willpaint at the BBAC and study paintings from landscape artists of the past. The instructor will use demonstrations, handouts and individual critique to guide each student.

All the basics of equipment and procedure of this challenging subject will be covered. Students may choose to

work in oil, pastel or acrylic.

Painting Workshop (Color)

Color Workshop

In this workshop you will learn a simple method of identifying and mixing color. This is a method that applies to all mediums as well as subject matter and ends the mystery of color mixing for painters. Learn how to control your palette, discover your personal color sense, and create paintings that are filled with light and harmony.   Students will work from still life set ups and class size will be limited to fifteen so that students will not be crowded. The workshop will consist of demonstrations, discussion, handouts and personal critique with the instructor. A materials list will be sent to the student upon registration.

Itinerary: Morning 10:00-12:30 Demo and lecture, Students do thumbnail sketches, as well as choose and mix colors on their palette    12.30-1:00 lunch- Please bring your own   1:00- 3:45 Students paint.

This workshop will concentrate on identifying and mixing tones for skin, hair and background. The morning will consist of a demonstration and lecture. Students will work from a model in the afternoon
